The Scandinavian Crystallography Service (SCS) is a single crystal X-ray diffraction service for chemical crystallography and materials science.

SCS is a mail-in one-stop shop for industry and academics. The SCS aims to reduce the entry-barrier and lead time to obtain state-of-the-art synchrotron diffraction data.

How to contact SCS?

Academic and industrial users can access SCS anytime by contacting us at scs@maxiv.lu.se

Showing SCS is based in Scandinavia and uses beamlines SINCRYS, MicroMAX and BioMAX at MAX IV.

What expertise does SCS provide?

The service is built on inspiration from the UK National Crystallography Service for Chemical Crystallography (http://www.ncs.ac.uk) but is unique in that it will be based on MAX IV with direct access to beamlines SINCRYS, BioMAX and MicroMAX. This allows for fast data collections on a wide range of compounds with smaller unit cells that can benefit to be measured with higher intensity. Depending on user experience with X-ray single crystal diffraction there are different access levels such as ‘Data Only’, and ‘Full Structure analysis’. Although we have a standard workflow, we are flexible and open to accommodating non-standard requests.

What we offer?

The Scandinavian Crystallography Service (SCS) focus on the technique of single crystal X-ray diffraction applied to samples submitted by either industry or research groups. SCS support users throughout Scandinavia and further abroad. We offer to mount single crystals of your sample, test some crystals. If successful continue to solve data from collected data. Depending on data quality and model quality the best data are chosen.

Access modes are: Frames only, Data only (ins-, hkl- and instrument cif-file) or Full Structure analysis (publishable cif-file).

Temperature range: 100 to 400 K (Standard temperature is 100 K)

Wavelength range: 2.4 Å to 0.5 Å (5 to 25 keV) depending on beamline used.
