A hands-on workshop on the data treatment methods for hard X-ray spectroscopy techniques performed at Balder beamline will be held as a satellite to the MAX IV User Meeting (13-15 January 2025). We welcome all users, both current and future, who are interested in data analysis of these techniques. The workshop will have two sessions:
- Monday January 13th in the morning (8:30-12:00) at the user-meeting venue (Scandic Star hotel). We give an overview and introduce the software developed by the beamline staff and continue with hands-on training for users to work with their own data on the software of their choice. Users are encouraged to use their own data measured at Balder on the exercises. Otherwise, sample data will be provided by us.
- Wednesday January 15th in the afternoon (14:00-17:00) at MAX IV, a drop-in session where the beamline staff are available to help participants one-on-one with any of the topics.
A list of topics that can be discussed are:
- XAFSmass for sample preparation
- Overview of detectors and experimental data organization at Balder
- Online data viewers and pipelines
- ParSeq for XAS and XES analysis
- XHyView for XRF/XANES mapping
- FEFF and EXAFS fitting
- Jupyter Notebooks for fast analysis of in-situ data
- Any other topics requested by prospective participants
Interested in the workshop? Please provide a motivation statement (up to 1500 characters) upon registration to help us prioritize topics and motivate participation. Due to practical reasons, we need to limit the number of participants at the workshop. The admitted participants will be informed of their place in the workshop after the registration for the user meeting closes and will then receive comprehensive information on all the practical aspects. To benefit from the workshop, participants must bring their computers. Instructions on how to install the software will be sent to the admitted participants in good time.
You can register for the workshop here. For more information, contact Mahesh.
