We would like to invite you to an online information session about the future Tomography beamline for materials science at MAX IV Laboratory, developed in collaboration with WISE (Wallenberg Initiative Materials Science for Sustainability).
The information session will be held on Zoom, on Tuesday, 19 November 2024, from 14:00 to 15:00.
Since the finalization of the conceptual design report (CDR) at the end of 2023, a team has been working on how to realize the design goals defined in the CDR. We would like to take this opportunity to share the current state of the beamline project with you. The beamline working team is currently working on the technical design report (TDR), which contains the technical details required to commence the beamline construction phase as soon as a final funding decision is in place.
During this online update session for the community, which is held completely online, we will present the following:
- Details on the chosen optical design of the beamline and how it achieves the beamline technical requirements (beam size, spot size, energy range, flux, etc).
- Details on the endstation design and the types of experiments we envision will be possible at the beamline.
We will provide an approximately 30-minute presentation covering these topics, after which there will be a short Q&A session where attendees are welcome to ask questions about the project.
A short summary of the beamline:
The MAX IV – WISE Tomography beamline will be a state-of-the-art materials science beamline for hard X-ray computed tomography. The primary application of the beamline will be phase contrast micro- and nanotomography at photon energies from 20 to 65 keV, with a beam size ranging up to 45 mm. The beamline will cater to users in various research areas, such as composite materials, energy storage, metals, construction materials, geoscience, catalysis, and waste management. We aim for the beamline to be attractive to the larger Swedish materials science communities, both academic and industrial, covering fundamental research and innovation.
Feel free to forward this invitation to any colleagues who might be interested.
We hope to see many of you there!
